Design Discoveries | May 2024

This is the first in my series of Design Discoveries blog posts, where I’ll be sharing what’s new in the world of design, this month with a focus on colour and affordability.

Little Greene’s New Intelligent Paint Formulation

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Little Greene paints so I was very excited to get some info through the other day about their new Intelligent Paints formulation. The Intelligent Grip technology combines both a paint and a primer, streamlining the painting process and ensuring excellent coverage and adhesion to surfaces. It comes in the full range of sheen levels, from Matt to Gloss, and is suitable for use on lots of materials like glass and melamine. Not only will it save money by cutting out the cost of a separate primer but it will also save valuable time, whether you’re painting yourself or getting the decorators in. I can’t wait to try this on my next decorating project!

I’m a bit obsessed with this new IKEA collection! It’s a collaboration with Netherlands based design duo, Raw Color. The collection features furniture, textiles, tableware and decoration using graphic shapes and Raw Color’s signature bright, bold colour combinations. They’re really affordable too, with lightshades starting at £15 and cushion covers at just £5. Definitely a mood boosting product range.

After their first product range was revealed last year, the H&M Home đź–¤ Pantone partnership have just revealed their second collection which focuses on tableware essentials in two different colour palettes, Zesty & Fresh and Sweet & Juicy. This range plays with the idea of flavour, taste and colour. It includes tableware like serving bowls, placemats and vases, as well as scented candles in a choice of bright colours.

If you watched the latest series of Interior Design Masters, you’ll be familiar with talented interior designer, Roisin Quinn. Roisin has collaborated with La Redoute to create the new La Fleur collection. The range includes wallpaper, blinds, soft-furnishings and accessories in pretty floral patterns and a bold colour palette - perfect for giving your home a summer refresh.

Habitat x Scion collection

A collaboration between two British brands, the Habitat X Scion range includes lighting, furniture and soft-furnishings. Combining bold colour with Scion’s signature patterns and simple shapes, it has an informal Scandinavian feel so is easy to incorporate in to most design schemes.

Mylands Jinny Blom collection

Mylands have collaborated with leading British landscape gardener, Jinny Blom, to launch a collection of 12 new colours, taking inspiration from the landscape. Blom’s aim when designing the collection was to enhance outdoor and garden spaces with subtle touches of colour. One of my favourites is Cooper’s Earth - a pretty chalky pinky-brown.
